Roger Goodell: ‘We Need to Move Past the Anthem Controversy’

by Dylan Gwinn
10 Oct 2017

In what is surely a sign of the times in which we currently live, the topic of how to players will conduct themselves during the playing of the national anthem, will be “front and center” part of the agenda when NFL owners meet next week.

That news coming from NFL Spokesman Joe Lockhart, who confirmed on a Tuesday conference call, that the league would be addressing the matter next week.

Commissioner Goodell sent out a memo to league personnel, reinforcing that anthem conduct will be discussed. Goodell said in the memo, “We live in a country that can feel very divided. Sports, and especially the NFL, brings people together and lets them set aside those divisions, at least for a few hours. The current dispute over the National Anthem is threatening to erode the unifying power of our game, and is now dividing us, and our players, from many fans across the country.

Unconditional surrender: all shall stand for the anthem. Those who don't shall be sacked.

Gee, Roger, ya think?

Keen insights like this are why Goodell makes $60M+ p/year.

We are not going back. Sick of this kneeling insult by black millionaires who claim oppression and disrespect our flag. The Coaches and NFL's Goodell joined in taking the knee.

Suddenly their support is down a big 31%! That's a huge drop in numbers and directly related to pizzed off Americans who love this nation, this flag and the sacrifice of many to make this nation the very best in the world.

He saw the drop in $$$ and advertising revenue and now is in a panic. He can kma. I'm never going back. The NFL allowed this politicizing of sports. These entitled morons will go down with them! They deserve every bit of it.

They have no one to blame but themselves. Should have shut up Kaepernic a year ago when he started the SJW bs. I don't care what they do now. They've shown their true anti-American colors.

The networks are contracted to pay to show the games. They see the loss first. When viewers fall short of what was promised to the ad buyers, the networks give do goods to the ad buyers, free advertising time. The conversations between network execs and NFL execs must be fun.
