Title: Greg Abbott Is About to Make Austin Regret Its Desire to Become Like California In Its Homeless Problem

If you go to various cities in California, one of the first things you’ll notice is the shocking amount of homeless people that are camped out on the streets. I wish I could say these were people just down on their luck, but where homeless camps pop up, an inordinate amount of drug use does as well.

And for some reason, Austin, Texas, wants to be just like them.

Austin’s Mayor Steve Adler made it legal for homeless people to set up tents on city streets so long as they aren’t blocking pathways. In an interview, Adler said he doesn’t think that this will cause problems like it does in Los Angeles or San Francisco, but Austin residents, especially women, are worried about safety concerns.
Austin TX moves to abolish city ordinances that forbid camping on city streets

Every area that has removed bans against camping on city streets has been FLOODED with waves of homeless people! I beg you all to oppose this!

Texas Governor Greg Abbott warned back in June that if Austin does go through with it, then he’ll be forced to bring the power of Texas down on the city.

“If Austin— or any other Texas city—permits camping on city streets it will be yet another local ordinance the State of Texas will override,” tweeted Abbott. “At some point cities must start putting public safety & common sense first.”

There are far better solutions for the homeless & citizens. https://t.co/xYezoovVCg

Fast forward to July, and the ordinance is already causing major problems. Needless to say, Abbott is not happy. Abbott took to Twitter once again to show people what kind of dangers the policies Austin enacted are bringing on. Quote tweeting a Texas resident who caught an accident caused by homeless people darting into traffic caused a major accident near downtown Austin.

“Look at this insanity caused by Austin’s reckless homeless policy. All state-imposed solutions are on the table including eliminating local sovereign immunity for damages and injuries like this caused by a city’s homeless policy,” tweeted Abbott.

“The horror stories are piling up,” he added.

Adler seems to be willing to stand his ground, however. He noted that Abbott was “misled” in a tweet and blamed the outrage around homeless camps on people trying to scare and lie to others.
Homelessness: Most trying to seriously address concerns of both people and public places. A few trying to scare: willing to lie. Even @GovAbbott was misled. Who are these people? Thanks to @AshleyG_KVUE and @KVUE for verifying what’s true — and not. https://t.co/0iSQ7GBLrY

It’s likely that Abbott is currently cooking up something in the legislature with the help of Republicans, though if this continues to spiral out of control, Austin may end up just like San Francisco, which has become a dangerous place to be with all the homeless and hard drugs that literally litter the streets.

Quick, you'd better write some angry letters to your congresscritter and make a few more donations to the ACLU 'cause those jackbooted legislators and the Governor Greg "Hitler" Abbot in Texas are finally being forced to act to protect their state capitol from being overrun by homeless drug addicts.

What right do these fascist Texas legislators have to prevent local rule by the mayor of Austin (who likes to travel to San Fran and Seattle and other homeless paradises for more info on how to make Austin into a homeless paradise too)?

Hey. Those homeless drug addicts have rights, too. And they're putting good use to those empty spaces under bridges and between highways.

Okay. I'll give you credit for consistency. I do think you might have a different opinion if you lived near one of these bum-overrun bridges or addict-infested highway medians.

But wait a second...

What about those people with nearby homes and businesses in proximity to these places where the bums congregate to shoot up or smoke crack and then sleep it off before they regain consciousness and go out to engage in panhandling and petty crime to afford their next fix or drink?

What about the property rights of those homeowners and business owners? Don't they have a right to sue the local jackboot mayor and city council for lowering their property values by allowing the entire area to be overrun by bums?

You don't seem to be very consistent here in defending the property rights of local businesses and homeowners in the same way that you were so concerned only 4 days ago with property values for those living near the elderly couple in Florida with the vegetable garden in their front yard. Certainly, the bridges and highway medians and sidewalks and alleys in Austin are public property and are not zoned for any sort of human occupancy or camping. It is, in fact, the city's job to keep people from squatting on public property.

I kinda wonder if part of this "problem" is related to Austin - and S.F. and Seattle and others - having in mind the upcoming 2020 census. Any way they have to increase the number of congressional seats they have and the electoral votes they have in those states is a plus for someone. In this case, as it is with illegals flooding these sanctuary cities and sanctuary states, it is always the Dems who are running the local gang of pols. Quite often, with the occasional backing of Dem judges in state or federal courts.

I have read that Seattle is stealthily removing a lot of homeless people to get them to go elsewhere but I haven't seen any hard numbers or deep reporting to support that yet.
